Understanding the Industry Benchmark Dashboard

Overview

The Industry Benchmark Dashboard allows your aquatic facility to compare its maturity against the average maturity of all facilities currently using Assessment Manager.

While assessments and internal benchmarking help facilities understand their own performance, industry benchmarking provides valuable context by showing how your facility compares with the broader aquatic industry. This can help identify areas where your facility is performing strongly, opportunities where further improvement may be beneficial and areas where your practices may be leading the industry.

Industry benchmarking is based on anonymous data from all facilities using Assessment Manager. Individual facilities and organisations are not identified, ensuring that benchmarking information remains confidential while still providing meaningful industry insights.

What Information is Available on the Industry Benchmark Dashboard?

The Industry Benchmark Dashboard includes:

  • Assessment Section Selection

  • Module Selection

  • Your Facility Maturity Rating

  • Industry Average Maturity Rating

  • Question-Level Maturity Comparisons

  • Areas of Strength and Opportunity

Together, these insights help facilities understand how their maturity compares with the broader industry and identify opportunities to learn and improve.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Industry Benchmark Dashboard

From the Benchmark menu, select Industry Benchmark Dashboard.

This dashboard provides a comparison between your facility and the average maturity ratings of all facilities currently using Assessment Manager.

Step 2: Select an Assessment Section

Use the Assessment Section dropdown to select the assessment type that you would like to benchmark.

For example, you may wish to compare your performance in Workplace Health and Safety, Aquatic Health and Safety, Child Safety, Sustainability or Psychosocial Safety.

Changing the assessment section will automatically update the dashboard and display industry benchmarking information for that area.

Step 3: Select a Module

Once an assessment section has been selected, use the Module dropdown to choose the specific module that you would like to review.

The dashboard will then display the maturity comparison between your facility and the industry average for the selected module and all associated questions.

Step 4: Review Your Facility's Maturity Rating

The dashboard displays your facility's current maturity rating for the selected module.

This provides an opportunity to understand your current performance before comparing it with the broader industry and identifying opportunities for further improvement.

Step 5: Review the Industry Average

Alongside your facility's maturity rating, the dashboard displays the average maturity rating for all facilities currently using Assessment Manager.

This comparison provides valuable context and helps answer questions such as:

  • Are we performing above the industry average?

  • Are there areas where we are behind the industry?

  • Where should we focus our improvement efforts?

The industry average should be used as a guide and an opportunity for learning rather than a performance target.

Step 6: Review Question-Level Comparisons

The dashboard also displays maturity comparisons for individual questions within the selected module.

Question-level comparisons provide more detailed insights than module ratings alone and help identify specific areas where your facility may be performing particularly well or where additional focus may be required.

These insights can help guide future planning, resource allocation and improvement activities.

Step 7: Identify Areas of Strength and Opportunity

After reviewing the benchmarking information, consider which areas represent strengths for your facility and which areas may benefit from further attention.

Facilities performing above the industry average may have practices and systems that are worth maintaining and celebrating, while areas below the industry average may present opportunities for improvement and further development.

Tips and Best Practice

Industry benchmarking should be used as a source of insight and learning rather than competition.

A maturity rating above the industry average does not mean that further improvement is unnecessary, and a rating below the industry average should not be viewed as a failure. Instead, benchmarking should be used to understand current performance and identify practical opportunities to continue improving.

Regularly reviewing industry benchmarking information can help facilities monitor their progress, understand emerging trends and ensure that improvement activities remain focused on areas that will deliver the greatest benefit.

Remember that industry averages will change over time as more facilities use Assessment Manager and as maturity across the industry continues to evolve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the industry data come from?
