Viewing Individual Secret Swimmer Assessments

Overview

While the Secret Swimmer Dashboard provides an average view of performance across multiple assessments, the Individual Assessments tab allows you to review the results of each Secret Swimmer visit separately.

Every Secret Swimmer assessment completed by Drowning Prevention Australia is recorded within the Individual Assessments register. This allows facilities to review the outcomes of a specific visit, understand the observations made by the assessor and identify opportunities for improvement based on that individual assessment.

Reviewing individual assessments is particularly valuable when investigating operational issues, recognising improvements between visits or understanding the context behind changes in overall dashboard performance.

What Information is Available?

The Individual Assessments register includes:

  • Assessment Date

  • Assessment Section

  • Assessor

  • Overall Maturity Rating

  • View Assessment

Selecting View opens the individual Secret Swimmer assessment dashboard.

The Individual Assessment Dashboard includes:

  • Overall Section Maturity Rating

  • Module Maturity Ratings

  • Question-Level Maturity Ratings

  • Assessor Notes and Comments

Together, this information provides a detailed record of the observations and findings from that specific Secret Swimmer visit.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open the Individual Assessments Tab

From the Secret Swimmers menu, select the Individual Assessments tab.

This screen displays a register of every Secret Swimmer assessment completed for your facility and allows you to review each visit independently.

Step 2: Locate the Assessment

Review the assessment register and identify the Secret Swimmer assessment you wish to view.

The register allows you to quickly locate assessments based on the assessment date and provides an overview of all completed visits.

Step 3: Open the Assessment

Select the View button beside the assessment you wish to review.

This will open the Individual Assessment Dashboard and display the complete results for that specific Secret Swimmer visit.

Step 4: Review the Overall Maturity Rating

At the top of the dashboard, review the overall maturity rating for the assessment.

This rating provides a summary of the facility's performance during that particular visit and should be considered alongside the detailed module and question-level results.

Step 5: Review Module and Question Ratings

The Individual Assessment Dashboard displays the maturity rating for each module together with the maturity rating achieved for every individual assessment question.

Reviewing these ratings helps identify the areas where the facility performed particularly well and those that may require further attention.

Unlike the Secret Swimmer Dashboard, these ratings relate only to the individual assessment being viewed and are not averaged across multiple visits.

Step 6: Review the Assessor's Notes and Comments

Each assessment includes detailed notes and comments recorded by the Secret Swimmer assessor during their visit.

These observations provide valuable context for the maturity ratings and often explain why particular ratings were awarded. The assessor's comments may also highlight examples of good practice, operational observations and opportunities for improvement.

Step 7: Use the Findings to Support Improvement

Review the assessment with supervisors and operational staff to discuss the observations and identify practical opportunities for improvement.

Individual Secret Swimmer assessments provide valuable feedback on day-to-day operations and can be used to reinforce good practices, improve customer experience and strengthen aquatic supervision and facility presentation.

Tips and Best Practice

Individual Secret Swimmer assessments should be reviewed alongside the overall Secret Swimmer Dashboard.

While the dashboard helps identify long-term trends, individual assessments provide the detailed information needed to understand what occurred during a specific visit and why particular maturity ratings were achieved.

The assessor's notes and comments are often the most valuable part of the assessment. They provide practical observations that can be discussed with staff and incorporated into operational improvements and team development activities.

Regularly reviewing individual assessments can also help facilities understand whether improvement initiatives implemented after previous visits are resulting in measurable improvements during subsequent Secret Swimmer assessments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Secret Swimmer Dashboard and Individual Assessments?

Yes. Each completed Secret Swimmer assessment contributes to the average maturity ratings displayed on the Secret Swimmer Dashboard.
