Sustainability in aquatic facilities requires more than isolated initiatives — it demands structured leadership, integrated systems, and a clear strategy aligned to operational realities. This program is designed to develop the capability to lead sustainability across aquatic environments, drawing on expert experience in environmental management, facility operations, and performance evaluation.

Participants will explore how leading organisations establish sustainability strategies that align policy, planning, and operational practices to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high service standards. Modules Overview and Activity

The program begins with sustainability strategy and planning, focusing on how to develop clear policies and procedures that align with organisational objectives, regulatory expectations, and industry best practice. Participants will explore how leading facilities structure sustainability frameworks and integrate them into governance and decision-making processes.

The program then progresses to sustainability planning, where participants develop practical, facility-based sustainability plans that address key operational areas such as water usage, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and chemical management. Drawing on real-world examples, participants will examine how these plans are prioritised, resourced, and implemented effectively.

The program then shifts to implementation and operational practice, focusing on how sustainable work practices are embedded into daily operations. Participants will explore monitoring techniques, staff engagement strategies, and operational controls that support consistent and effective implementation across aquatic environments.

The final module focuses on performance evaluation and reporting, including how to measure sustainability outcomes, analyse performance data, and report on progress. Participants will develop frameworks to evaluate effectiveness, demonstrate impact, and drive continuous improvement across their organisation.
