Facility Leaders Program
Strengthen your leadership capability to manage teams, departments, and operational performance within aquatic facilities.
Leading a department or aquatic facility requires more than operational knowledge — it requires the ability to lead people, influence culture, manage performance, and make informed decisions in complex environments. This program is designed to support emerging and developing managers to strengthen their leadership capability and build the practical skills required to effectively lead teams and functions within aquatic facilities.
Drawing on contemporary leadership practices, organisational management principles, and real-world aquatic industry experience, the program explores leadership at three levels — leading self, leading others, and leading a function. Participants will gain insight into their own leadership style and behaviours through the Everything DiSC Management Profile and 360 leadership feedback processes, while developing practical capability in communication, team leadership, operational management, problem solving, and organisational performance.

Modules Overview and Activity
The program begins with Leading Self, focusing on self-awareness, leadership behaviours, personal effectiveness, and values-based leadership within aquatic environments. Participants will explore emotional intelligence, resilience, leadership influence, and professional capability while gaining insight into their own leadership style through the Everything DiSC Management Profile and leadership reflection activities. The program then progresses to Leading Others, examining communication, team dynamics, engagement, and how leaders build alignment and influence performance across operational teams.
The second half of the program focuses on Leading a Function, exploring how managers oversee operational areas, projects, and organisational performance within aquatic facilities. Participants will examine management frameworks, operational decision-making, finance, employee relations, and continuous improvement, while applying practical problem-solving approaches to real workplace challenges. The program emphasises critical thinking, leadership capability, and the application of management practices that support high-performing teams and effective operational outcomes.
