Aquatic Team Leader Program
Develop the leadership capability to effectively supervise teams, manage performance, and lead people within aquatic facilities.
Transitioning from a frontline operational role into a leadership position can be one of the most challenging stages of professional development within aquatic facilities. This program is designed to support emerging and recently appointed team leaders to develop the practical leadership, communication, and people management skills required to effectively supervise teams and support operational performance.
Drawing on industry leadership experience and contemporary management practices, the program explores communication, delegation, motivation, team development, and performance management within aquatic environments. Participants will gain insight into their own leadership style through the Everything DiSC Management Profile while applying practical leadership strategies to real-world aquatic facility scenarios.

Modules Overview and Activity
The program begins with an exploration of leadership within aquatic facilities, including the role and responsibilities of a team leader and how leadership influences team culture, communication, and operational performance. Participants will examine the transition from team member to leader and the challenges associated with supervising others.
The program then focuses on understanding leadership and management styles through the Everything DiSC Management Profile. Participants will explore how different communication and behavioural styles influence workplace relationships, delegation, motivation, and team development.
The program progresses to practical leadership skills, including communication techniques, directing and delegating tasks, and leading teams through different stages of development. Participants will examine how leaders build trust, influence behaviours, and support high-performing teams within operational aquatic environments.
The final module focuses on performance management and difficult conversations, including recognising diminishing performance, addressing workplace challenges, and conducting constructive performance discussions. Participants will explore practical approaches to managing people confidently and professionally while maintaining positive workplace relationships.
